Accessibility statement
We want everyone who visits this website to be able to find what they need, read it comfortably and get in touch easily — whatever device, browser or assistive technology they use.
Our commitment
Holgate Court Accountants Limited is committed to digital inclusion. We aim for this website to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA, the international standard for accessible websites, and to support our duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people are not put at a disadvantage.
We believe the website is largely compliant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Where we know of gaps, we list them below with what to do instead.
Accessibility settings
Select the round accessibility button in the bottom-left corner of any page to open the settings. Your choices are saved on your device and apply across the whole site until you change them.
- Text size
- Switch between Default, Large and Extra large text across every page.
- High contrast
- Stronger colours, pure white backgrounds and darker text and borders.
- Highlight links
- Underlines and shades every link so it stands out from the text around it.
- Easy-read font
- Changes to Atkinson Hyperlegible, a font designed for low vision, with wider letter and word spacing.
- Reduce motion
- Stops animations and moving effects. This turns on by itself if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Reset all
- Returns every setting to the default in one step.
Your browser and device also have built-in tools, such as zoom (Ctrl or Cmd and +), dark mode, screen readers and voice control, which work with this site.
What we've checked
The site has been checked with automated accessibility testing (axe) against WCAG 2.1 A and AA, and by hand using only a keyboard. It was built with:
- Every page has one main heading, headings in a logical order and clear page regions.
- A “Skip to main content” link is the first thing you reach with the keyboard.
- Everything can be used with a keyboard alone, with a clearly visible orange focus outline.
- The current page is highlighted in the menu and announced to screen readers.
- Text and buttons meet the WCAG AA colour contrast ratio of at least 4.5 to 1.
- Informative images have text descriptions; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Every form field has a visible label, and errors are explained in words and read out by screen readers.
- The site works when text is enlarged up to 200% and on phones held in any direction.
Known limitations
The enquiry form
Sending the form opens your own email program with your message filled in. If your device has no email program set up, please email or phone Mark directly instead.
Photographs
Some photos are illustrations rather than pictures of real clients. They are described for screen readers but carry no extra information.
LinkedIn
Links to LinkedIn open a separate website that we do not control, so its accessibility may differ from ours.
Alternative formats and feedback
If you need any information from this site in a different format — such as large print, an easy-read version, a plain-text email or a phone conversation instead — or if you find something that doesn't work for you, please tell us:
- Email: mark@holgateaccountants.com
- Phone: 07905 625061
- Or use the enquiry form.
Please tell us the page you were on and what went wrong. We aim to reply within 5 working days.
